Caribbean sunset. Some years since my trip to the Caribbean, but great memories. Watercolour

'Winter in the Forest' Watercolour/gouache. 13" x 9"
Painted on Stonehenge hot press paper, my first time of using. Nice quality, doesn't buckle much and very soon flattens out when dry. I'll certainly use  it again.

24.09.2020. This is a freely interpreted view of a Jersey lighthouse. I gave it the title 'Let there be light', but there's no biblical intention here, just (hopefully) a depiction of nature. Watercolour.

14.09.2020. This is a watercolour of  Old Italy. It is based upon a photograph I found on an internet photo site. I painted it freely and I feel it has made a successful transition from photograph to watercolour. (Sorry, SOLD)

23/09/2020. Dorothy Dandridge was a 'triple threat' to the movie and entertainment industry of America in the latter half of the 20th century. She could sing, dance, and act.  She was undoubtedly quite stunningly beautiful, as the many photographs of her testify. The world should have been at her feet, but she had a problem: her African American heritage. Utterly unfairly this marvellous, talented woman was never given enough cinematic opportunities to show her great acting and performing skills. Today she would be an absolute star, but this was the wrong time, perhaps even the wrong country. So, inevitably, she died too young and we lost something wonderful. This sketch is by way of my tribute to her.

This is a pencil sketch of Marilyn Monroe. Sized approximately 13" x 9" (33 cm x 23 cm). I used a single grade 'B' drawing pencil. The support is Bristol Board, which is a smooth white card often used by graphic artists working in pen.

I gave this watercolour the title ' Water Byway, Venice'. Watercolour  16" x 12" (41cm x 30 cm)

Contre-jour (street scene) pen and watercolour 15.25" x 26.5" (38.5 cm x 26.5 cm)

Morning Light (after the style of Alexandre Louis Jacob) Watercolour 12" x 16"
Audrey Hepburn. Colour pencil sketch 10" x 7"
